Love the stop action and the use of a mirror. I agree, I love the focus on the juice and you out of focus. How did you do that? It looks like you did all yourself.
I did do it all by myself! Unless you count Joon as my assistant...
So, I put the glass jar on the small table in our cove and pushed the table up against the big screen tv. Then I leaned one of my trusty mirrors up against the frame of the tv
I experimented with second curtain flash, but that did not work out. I wanted stop action. The camera was on a tripod all the way down, and was pointed slightly up towards the ceiling. I also experimented with milk and strawberry smoothie mix, but those turned out more disturbing than gorgeous.
I switched over to cranberry juice I found that the more aggressively I poured the prettier the stream looked. When I poured it slowly it just looked like a little clear plastic wind spiny thing. I played with the aperture to make me look more out of focus
I wanted both of the juices to be in the picture. At first I thought it was goofy that you could see me and the camera in the image, but the more it happened the more I liked it.
I like how the picture makes you actively think. The right hand seems like more of a hero because it's controlling the action. While my left hand is off in the corner taking the picture. Then you realize that it's the left hand that is taking the picture. Then you look at the lens. Which is pointing at the juice Then you look at blurry me. Then you realize that you are seeing exactly how the picture is taken within the picture itself.
I’m not afraid to admit that it took me awhile to figure this out. At first I thought there were two people pouring. Then I was excited that both of you poured at the same time making the stream look the same. At that moment I said, “Wait a tick!” Good work. I am still amazed you did that all by yourself. I will be looking into second curtain flash more aggressively. Jon was talking to me about it too.
cool shot with the focus. you in the background makes it almost look like a scary movie or a dream looking picture
